Hello!
The TR14ers have been awarded Royal Patronage. We are delighted!
'Camborne’s’ own youth led community dance troupe the
TR14ers are delighted to announce that HRH The Duchess of Gloucester has agreed
to be their Royal Patron. HRH was approached to become the troupes’ Patron
following her visit to Camborne in June to watch a showcase Dance Workshop
performed by 150 members of the TR14ers aged from 11 to 18 years.
“The young people are thrilled and honoured by this
wonderful acknowledgement. Receiving HRH’s Royal Patronage shows the children
how special they are and reinforces their self esteem and self respect, they
are proud to bring this recognition to their home town, Camborne” said the
troupes’ Chairman Sgt David Aynsley.
The young people regularly meet to choreograph new
routines and they hold dance Workshops during the school holidays at The Corn
Exchange in Camborne. “The TR14ers have come so far over the past 2 years and I
am immensely proud to be associated with this project” said Mr. Tim Vigus who
provides the Corn Exchange’s facilities to the troupe.
An overview of the TR14ers objectives, a pictorial
album of their achievements and a brief history about the troupe can be found
on their web site. The
members are actively encouraged to lead a healthy lifestyle, are discouraged
from using alcohol, tobacco or drugs and to strive to be socially aware and
active citizens.
The Tr14ers are
currently rehearsing in preparation for their forth coming performances at the
turning on of the Christmas Lights on December 1st and at the Camborne
Christmas Festivities in the square on 20th December' (press release)
